ANZ STADIUM AUSTRALIA
1996
VSL made a significant contribution to the design and construction of Stadium Australia, which was built in 2000 to host the Olympic Games in Sydney with a 110,000-seating capacity, the biggest capacity in modern Olympics history. VSL performed Post-Tensioning of the circular ramp slabs and helped design and build the lower tier seating deck using post-tensioned cast in-situ concrete on steel columns, an innovative scheme providing a reconfigurable structure to accommodate different shaped sports grounds – rectangular for Rugby and Soccer to oval for Australian Rules Football.
