Inspection & Assessment for Water & Wastewater Infrastructure
Informed decisions start with the right data
Early diagnosis is the key to maintaining performance, safety, and regulatory compliance in water-related assets. Whether in dams, pipelines, or treatment plants, timely inspection helps detect hidden deterioration before it escalates.
VSL provides condition assessments using advanced diagnostic techniques tailored to water environments. Our teams work in fresh and wastewater contexts, above and below ground, adapting methods to each structure’s material, accessibility, and operating constraints.
Our inspection & assessment services
Including confined space and underwater access, with crack mapping when required
Such as GPR, ultrasonic, impact echo, and corrosion potential measurement
Including hydrostatic and operational stress assessments
For deeper analysis when non-invasive methods are insufficient
Pioneering technology for better diagnostics
Our partnerships bring state-of-the-art non-invasive methods to water infrastructure inspections.
Why inspect with VSL?
Hydraulic & structural know-how
We combine expertise in water-related deterioration and structural behavior across all materials.Specialized access capabilities
From reservoirs to shafts, we use advanced tools (like drones), safe access systems and rope teams to reach hard-to-inspect areas.End-to-end support
We guide clients from initial diagnosis to repair design and prioritized action plans, always with long-term durability in mind.
FAQs about water infrastructure assessment
Inspection frequency depends on asset type, criticality, and environment. Most structures benefit from visual inspection every 1-2 years, with in-depth assessment every 5-10 years. Ideally, this is defined in an Inspection & Maintenance Plan – and if none exists, we can support clients in creating one in line with the latest standards and international recommendations.
We apply non-destructive testing (NDT), including radar, ultrasonic and impact echo, to identify issues not visible from the surface.
Yes. We plan around operational constraints and can often inspect while assets remain in service. When this is not possible, we are fully equipped to conduct inspections during downtime, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation aligned with operational requirements.
