Chiltern tunnels for High Speed 2
2020-2022
Keller-VSL Joint Venture (KVJV) has been involved in the UK’s largest transport infrastructure project – the High Speed 2 (HS2) rail line – since 2019, carrying out a variety of works. From 2020 to 2022, this involved construction of four circular diaphragm wall shafts, with depths of up to 78m. These shafts will ultimately form part of the tunnel ventilation system and emergency access / egress routes. The walls had to be built in variable soils with challenging conditions, and within environmentally sensitive areas.
