EGGNERS FERRY BRIDGE

VSL lifted a 2,268t basket-handle tied arch from a barge over a 20-metres distance, and lowered the arch into position on its bearings for the bridge replacing Eggners Ferry Bridge over Kentucky Lake, one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. VSL used four temporary lifting towers, each with two strand lifting units on top, and customised VSL monitoring system to oversee a difficult operation, which required adjusting the barge‘s ballast by pumping water into the tanks after each step and equalising four separate tanks.
