In 2017, VSL – Intrafor successfully completed the construction of two 70m-long tunnels under the Airport Express Link (AEL) – the railway that connects Hong Kong International Airport to the city centre. The owner’s main goal was to carry out the work safely and without disrupting the regular operations of the train line. To meet these objectives, VSL developed an innovative package including ground improvement and box jacking – a technique that had never been used before in Hong Kong.
