Passenger Clearance Building
2016 – 2017
VSL played a crucial role in the construction of the Passenger Clearance Building (PCB), featuring an iconic waved-shaped steel roof weighing more than 9,000t. Due to the proximity of the airport limiting the working height to 38mPD, the roof couldn’t be installed using traditional lifting gantries. In close cooperation with the main contractor, VSL developed a sophisticated erection method involving skidding, lifting and lowering operations for the installation of 81 roof segments, representing a surface area of 60,000m2.
