STONECUTTERS BRIDGE

2004 - 2009

VSL used lifting frames with high-capacity winches to erect segments for a 1,018-metre-long span for the Stonecutters bridge, that straddles the Rambler Channel at the entrance to the Kwai Chung container terminals in Hong Kong. In spite of heavy marine traffic and strong winds, VSL managed to lift a segment every five working days, spending roughly 40 minutes for each segment lift, a rhythm that helped expedite construction of the second-longest cable-stayed span in the world at the time of its completion in 2009.
