Submarine outfalls on Lamma Island

VSL-Intrafor’s project team was awarded a contract for the construction of two subsea outfalls, on a large sewage treatment scheme carried out by the Hong Kong government Drainage Services Department. The construction of the outfalls was to enable treated wastewater to be conveyed into the sea from two new sewage plants, located in Yung Shue Wan. In order to protect the marine environment, VSL built the outfalls using the horizontal directional drilling method, resulting in minimal impact of the coral colonies.
