VSL Switzerland contributed to one of the world’s first post-tensioned timber bridges, built as a wildlife crossing between Zurich and Bern. The two-span structure, including a 37-meter main span, combines timber beams, post-tensioning, and a concrete slab to safely carry soil and vegetation loads. Developed with ETH Zurich and l’École du Bois, this innovation proves how post-tensioning enhances timber strength and serviceability. Watch the video!
