Calatayud Bridge

VSL developed and executed custom lifting and lateral sliding solutions to realign six existing railway bridges near Calatayud, as part of Spain’s Autopista Ferroviaria Algeciras-Zaragoza freight corridor upgrade. The aim was to increase clearance through adjoining tunnels so that the line could accommodate taller freight trains. Each bridge required a tailored methodology, with loads of up to 239 tonnes moved laterally by up to 1.6 metres.
