The 1.3-km Bridgewater Bridge, Tasmania’s largest infrastructure project, was delivered by VSL Australia and McConnell Dowell under an alliance contract. VSL designed and erected 1,082 match-cast precast segments, produced off site using a conjugate casting method ensuring millimetric accuracy during assembly. The teams also optimised material use, protected the River Derwent, and enabled reuse of modular temporary works.
