Pont de Piles

VSL helped to convert a conventional concrete box girder bridge into a cable-stayed structure. The Pont de Piles Bridge in Quebec required major strengthening works after excessive mid span deformation and corrosion damage was found. With almost 12,000 vehicles using the bridge every day, VSL had to work to a very tight schedule to minimise the disruption caused by its closure. The strengthening system is intended to extend the life of the structure by at least five years, while a new crossing is built alongside.
