D19B Bridge

VSL carried out an in-situ tendon force assessment on the d19B Bridge, a 45-metre-long prestressed concrete bridge built in the 1960s in Bienne, Switzerland. Using its in-house designed Crossbow testing device, VSL measured the tensile force within the tendon through a precise and minimally invasive procedure, despite limited documentation on the ageing structure. This first on-site deployment demonstrates how VSL’s R&D tools can support safer, more reliable diagnostics for prestressed infrastructure.
