M4 PILNING INTERCHANGE

The Pilning Viaduct carries the M4 motorway which isa critical transport link between England and Wales. The structure needed full joint replacement at both ends due to maintenance and installation issues. VSL UK introduced the RSAG ResaFlex polyurethanetype expansion joint, used here for the first time in the UK. This product aligns with UK road management priorities, offering superior performance through enhanced waterproofing, noise reduction, and an extended lifespan. The installation was successfully completed in the summer of 2023 under short night closures, overcoming the challenges of high rainfall, tight schedules, and structural complexities.
