970M DIRECTIONAL CORES FOR MTR TUNNEL DESIGN

MTR (Hong Kong’s railway operator) commissioned Intrafor to undertake two HDC holes of 970m in length for the ground investigation ahead of the construction of the new 6.2km Northern Link Spur Line. HDC holes are the preferred ground investigation technique for tunnels & caverns allowing the geological, structural & hydrogeological conditions to be assessed within the tunnel orientation & alignment. In both holes sidetracking from the ‘mother’ hole was undertaken to investigate new ground.
